The reputation system is easy; it appears on the right side of a post like so:

+ gives 1 reputation
- takes away 1 reputation
1. It is possible to go negative in reputation.
2. You can + or - ten times every 24 hours.
The Thanks system is implied only on your posts. If you post, any reply can be thanked (this was to insure thank boosting wasn't a problem). So only the owner of the post can thank other users.
It looks like this on any reply to your topic:
